Sills on Casement Windows are very susceptible to
rot. Once it starts it allows
moisture to track into the sidewall and allows an entrance for destructive
insects, carpenter ants or worse.
Sills eventually pull away from the
house leaving gaps for energy loss and
air/water infiltration to the sidewall. Internally rotting the
wall.
Damage as serious as this can be
repaired to "like new" at a fraction of the cost of new
windows.
Small rotted areas will hide
substantial damage that will only get worse.
